In August 1982 Arthur Levine arrived as the new President of troubled Bradford College with plans for a bold new curriculum. The Bradford Plan For A Practical Liberal Arts Education combined a core curriculum of liberal arts with hands on career preparation. The Bradford Plan set a direction for the college that quickly helped it to achieve national and international prominence as “one of the most innovative and up–and–coming schools” of the 1980s, as described in the 1989 Fiske Guide to Colleges.
