This case traces the efforts of Southern Echo, a community organizing network working in poor, black communities in the Mississippi Delta, to significantly increase state spending on public education. The purpose of the case is to help participants understand the trade-offs involved when community organizing groups participate in alliances with more established civic and political organizations and actors.
