We collect personal information for the purpose of processing subscriptions, product orders, and other compatible uses on our websites. The information we require for use of our services and products may include your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, fax number, credit card information, IP address for systems administration, and demographic information for user profiling in aggregate form. We may ask for additional information, such as when you sign up for the eNewsletter. We use this information to customize your experience and to provide you with email notifications about your account.
Our servers automatically record information that your browser provides such as your Internet Protocol address, web request, browser type, date and time of your request, web pages visited, files accessed, and one or more cookies for identification.
When you send an email or other communication to us, we may retain the communication in order to process your query, respond to your request, and improve our services. All communications are stored on a secure server and are accessible only to staff and trusted third-party service providers (see below).
If you use our invitation service to tell a friend about an article or blog, we will ask you for information needed to send the invitation, such as your friend’s email address. We do not store this information after the email is sent.
If you sign up for our eNewsletter, all of the contact information is stored on a secure server. You will receive the newsletter by email bimonthly. In addition, you may receive emails related to new books or information addressing issues facing educators.
If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to receive communications from us, please follow the unsubscribe instructions provided in any of the communications.
We employ certain third parties to assist us in providing services including, without limitation, hosting and maintenance of our websites, customer service and sales. We will share your personal information with these third parties, but only in so far as necessary to perform these functions and provide such services, and only pursuant to binding contracts requiring such third parties to maintain the privacy and security of your personal data.
HEPG will not sell, rent, or swap your email address or any other personal information with any third party. HEPG does not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable; user sessions will be tracked, but the users will remain anonymous. Web server logs are retained on a temporary basis and then deleted from our systems.
HEPG may provide links to websites operated by third-parties as a convenience for our visitors. We do not endorse or accept responsibility for the content or the use of third-party websites. If you use third-party sites, you do so solely at your own risk. Links do not imply that HEPG or Harvard University is affiliated or associated with any linked site.
This site’s content is not intended for children under 13 years of age and we will not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you are under 13 years of age, you should not use the site or register for an account.
This site has appropriate security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. However, we cannot guarantee that those security measures will be effective.
